Listing cards in the /explore directory: directory websites that AI discovery found, each with a short description and a category

Real screens from /explore, our own demo directory, captured 2026-10-13. AI discovery found these listings: they are directory websites, not DirectoryDuck customers.

Most directories stall in the same places.

  • An empty directory nobody visits

AI discovery finds the businesses; import a CSV for the ones you have; publish all in one click.

  • A directory that doesn't earn

Sell featured spots (Starter and up), let businesses claim their listing, and take inquiries through the embed.

  • A plugin that breaks on update

DirectoryDuck is hosted, so there's no plugin, theme or server to update.

  • Locked into someone's platform

Use your own domain (Starter and up) or embed it in your site, and export to CSV or JSON anytime.

From a niche idea to a live directory

  1. Step 1: Pick a niche and a place

Describe the businesses your directory is for in a sentence, like "dog groomers in Austin" or "bookkeepers for Shopify stores".

  2. Step 2: We find the listings

AI discovery searches the web for businesses that fit your niche and drafts each listing for you to approve (it spends credits). Or import a CSV of the ones you already have.

  3. Step 3: Publish

Your directory goes live at directoryduck.com/your-name, on your own domain (Starter and up), or on the site you already have with one pasted snippet.

  4. Step 4: Run it as a business

Businesses claim their listings, visitors leave reviews and send inquiries, you verify the businesses that are real, and you sell featured listings (Starter and up).

One featured listing pays for DirectoryDuck.

Directories typically charge $49–$199 a month per featured listing. Sell one at $99 and Starter ($39) is covered; ten is $990 a month.

Arithmetic, not a promise. Range: dirstarter.com/blog/directory-revenue-models. Featured listings are on Starter and up: you set the price and sell the spot yourself. Try your own numbers.

Questions? We've got answers.

Still have questions? support@directoryduck.com

Where do the listings come from?

Three ways: AI discovery finds businesses that fit your niche on the web and drafts each listing for you to approve (each job spends credits; the Free plan comes with 100 starter credits), you import a CSV, or you add them by hand.

Do I sell featured spots myself?

Yes. You set the price and sell the spot to the business. DirectoryDuck shows the listing first, with a Featured badge, until the date you set, and takes no payment from the business. Featured listings are on Starter and up.

Do I need to host my own frontend?

No. Every directory gets a hosted page at directoryduck.com/your-name. If you already have a site (Next.js, Webflow, WordPress, etc.), you can also put the whole directory there with one script tag (search, listing pages and an inquiry form), or show parts of it with our widgets or the API.

Can I import my existing listings?

Yes. Upload a CSV (name, email, website, description and contact columns), add listings one at a time, or let AI discovery find businesses on the web for you to review. Imported listings start as prospects, and you publish them in one click.

How do the embeddable widgets work?

Our widgets are simple JavaScript snippets you paste into your frontend. They pull your data from DirectoryDuck each time the page loads and display reviews, ratings, verification badges, and listings. Each widget has options such as a light or dark theme.

What happens if I exceed my listing limit?

Plan limits are listed on the pricing page; we'll email you before anything changes.

Is there a contract or commitment?

No contracts, no commitments. Paid plans are available now, billed monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of your billing period.

Can I white-label DirectoryDuck for my clients?

Partly. On Starter your one directory can run on your own domain; on Growth (5 directories) and Pro (unlimited) each directory can have its own. On Pro you can also hide the "Powered by DirectoryDuck" badge on the hosted pages and the embed. The review form and claim pages still run on directoryduck.com, and notification emails come from DirectoryDuck. Agencies running several client directories can write to support@directoryduck.com.

Can I build it from an AI agent?

Yes, over MCP: connect an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor to directoryduck.com/api/mcp. Paid plans get every tool; the Free plan gets the read-only tools.

Can I take my listings with me?

Yes: export your listings to CSV or JSON anytime, on every plan.
